Although the brand was officially established in 2008, the story of L.G.R began a few years earlier, in 2005, during a journey to Eritrea. Luca’s family has always had a deep connection with Africa – his grandfather, Raffaello Bini, owned a small shop in Asmara called Ottica Bini – and it was on that trip that Luca discovered a selection of vintage frames in the old Italian import warehouse that belonged to his grandfather. Struck by their beauty and timeless elegance, he brought them back to Italy, their country of origin.
Those archival models became the first source of inspiration for the creation of L.G.R – named after the initials of its founder – and guided the development of the brand’s debut collection. They continue to influence its research and design philosophy to this day.
All L.G.R eyewear is entirely handcrafted in Italy by family-run ateliers of expert artisans who skillfully shape and refine every detail. Each frame is produced using only the highest quality and most durable materials: cellulose acetate, chosen for its flexibility and its ability to adapt naturally to the wearer’s face; ultra-light metal, appreciated for its strength and infinite design possibilities; and tempered mineral glass lenses, a special technology that ensures exceptional visual clarity together with outstanding scratch and impact resistance.
