Responsibly made sunglasses for children

Conventional children’s sunglasses are rarely adapted to the needs of children, but only smaller adult sunglasses. At SooNice Sunnies, we changed that and designed sunglasses exclusively for children: 100% UV A and UV B protection, side shields against stray light, scratch resistant lenses and a lightweight and flexible material, providing extra high wearing comfort. Our SooNice Sunnies are made from recycled nylon (ECONYL®) in Italy. No new plastic is put into circulation and lots of CO2 emissions are saved.

As children have larger pupils than grown-ups, their highly sensitive retina cells are more exposed to UV light, which could cause severe damage. Similar to sunburned skin, the tissue and cells of the human eye could get severely damaged if not properly protected. Additionally, children usually spend more time outside and have consequently more exposure time to UV light. All the more important is a sufficient protection with premium quality sunglasses.

Our sunglasses are made from recycled nylon (ECONYL®). Beyond being derived from plastic waste, nylon has two major advantages: it is lightweight and flexible. While other plastics are rigid, ECONYL® can bend to a certain extent, making it lightweight, robust, and providing exceptional comfort. These qualities ensure that your child will enjoy wearing our sunnies for as long and as often as possible.

As it is our generation's responsibility to make the world a better place for our children, we established one fundamental principle when founding SooNice Sunnies: we wanted to avoid putting new plastic into circulation. After extensive research, we discovered ECONYL®, regenerated nylon, as the perfect material for our sunglasses. Firstly, it is made entirely from nylon waste, and secondly, it is produced in Italy, just a few kilometers from our manufacturing partners.

This, in our understanding, also includes the choice of production location and partner. Fortunately, we found a renowned manufacturer in Italy who was enthusiastic about our idea, bringing both the necessary expertise in processing ECONYL® and extensive experience in making sunglasses. This allows us to keep transport routes short and avoid unnecessary CO2 emissions.
