Ocumeda is a network of ophthalmologists that offers low-threshold eye check-ups in collaboration with opticians. Ocumeda was initiated by two ophthalmologists because they were repeatedly confronted with patients who presented with significantly advanced eye diseases in their everyday clinical practice. The diseases were often so far advanced that the loss of vision was already irreversible. With earlier diagnosis, many of these cases could have been avoided. Thanks to its teleophthalmological approach, the Ocumeda eye check-up provides low-threshold access to preventive eye care.

How does an eye check-up work?
Information and health questions - The trained and certified staff of our partners explain the eye check-up to customers in the optician's shop and ask questions about their personal health.
Taking measurements - Visual acuity, refraction and intraocular pressure are measured and images of the retina are taken with a fundus camera. The data is securely transmitted to Ocumeda.
Review by ophthalmologists - The data is analysed by ophthalmologists within 72 hours. The result is self-explanatory with an understandable traffic light system.
Result and follow-up - The result is sent digitally or optionally by post. Ocumeda is available to assist customers with any queries or abnormalities.
