Welcome to the world of biometric precision

Rodenstock was the first to measure the individual eye and use more than 7,000 data points to produce individual lenses. This is made possible by measuring the eyes with the DNEye® Scanner, the latest version of which - the DNEye® Scanner 3 - is now available on the market.

The BIG VISON® FOR ALL philosophy of innovation leader Rodenstock recognises that every person and every individual eye is unique. Rodenstock was the first to measure the individual eye and use more than 7,000 data points to produce individual lenses. This is made possible by measuring the eyes with the DNEye® Scanner, the latest version of which - the DNEye® Scanner 3 - is now available on the market and provides people around the world with the sharpest vision.

From the old standard to biometrically accurate lenses

Most manufacturers of progressive lenses today produce spectacle lenses based on a standard static eye model, the parameters of which deviate from the actual values of the individual eye in 98% of cases. As a result, the lenses are not tailored precisely to the needs of the individual’s eyes.

Rodenstock has developed a biometric approach and a device, the DNEye® Scanner, for comprehensive eye measurement. Rodenstock uses the data from the DNEye® scanner to determine the biometry of the entire eye - far beyond the industry standard. These data points are directly transferred into the creation of the lenses.

From a vision to a unique device

The new DNEye® Scanner 3 by Rodenstock embodies state-of-the-art technology: thanks to fast, comprehensive, and fully automated measurements, opticians can offer their customers sharp vision, have more time for consultation and save valuable space in the shop by integrating numerous measurements in a unique, compact device.

One device - even more advantages

In addition to measuring aberrometry, topography and pachymetry, which are used to determine the biometric data of the entire eye, the DNEye® Scanner 3 offers many new functions, such as a fundus image as the basis for an eye care check, a tear film analysis and an eye image.

Fundus image function

The fundus image function included in the DNEye® Scanner 3 enables a holistic view of the eye by including the posterior segment of the eye in the measurement via an automatic, non-mydriatic retinal camera. In addition, the cup-to-disc ratio can be determined, and different views can be compared side by side.

Tear film analysis

The tear film analysis enables the optician to recognise dry eyes and their cause. The local break-up time of the tear film can be measured between two blinks and video playback provides visualisation of the break-up of the tear surface. In addition, the tear meniscus can be measured manually in an eye image to identify whether the dry eye is due to a lack of tears or to the quality of the lipid layer that prevents evaporation.

Eye image

The new DNEye® Scanner 3 provides detailed colour images of the eye, which the optician can use to assess the health of the eyelids and conjunctiva with the help of the Efron scale. It is also possible to check for corneal, conjunctival and eyelid anomalies. Furthermore, blepharitis, conjunctival and limbal redness and disorders of the Meibomian glands can be assessed.

In addition to the new functions, the new DNEye® Scanner 3 has significant improvements: The Scheimpflug camera, which now provides area-based data rather than just a single section; Remote View, which now runs via the award-winning CNXT® digital service tool and therefore also displays measurement results on external devices; and the intuitive Rodenstock user interface and the size of the touchscreen.

Optional: Eye Care Check

With the Eye Care Check, opticians can also use the measurements of the DNEye® Scanner 3 to give their customers a deeper insight into their eyes and help to recognise signs of eye diseases at an early stage. Rodenstock offers this service together with competent eye care service providers. The measurement data can be transferred easily and securely to the eye care service provider via CNXT®. There they are analysed by an ophthalmologist from their network and made available to the optician in the form of a risk report. The Eye Care Check report can be accessed via the digital consultation tool CNXT® and can therefore be integrated directly into the customer consultation. This additional option not only offers opticians the opportunity to expand their range of optometric services and thus strengthen their expertise as vision experts but can also be integrated as a tool to increase customer loyalty and customer frequency.

The new DNEye® Scanner 3 offers even more potential for opticians and their customers thanks to the addition of several relevant functionalities to its already impressive portfolio and numerous significant improvements compared to previous generations. The optician significantly expands his premium segment thanks to biometric lenses, can now offer an optional eye care check and improves his personalised advice with an unparalleled measurement result, which leads to a special feeling of appreciation and trust among customers.

The DNEye® Scanner 3 is an optimised version of the VX650 from Luneau Technology Operations.

The use of the DNEye® Scanner 3 requires a Nexus account for device and user management.
